A Guide to Replacement Grips

This is a simple guide to the various types of Replacement Grips that are available for tennis rackets. There are many different brands of this type of grip, but they are similar, and your choice will be usually made after trying several different grips.

The basic grip usually has a smooth surface, and this is the choice of many players. The next group either have a perforated or a patterned surface that is designed to improve the basic grip.

There is another type that is popular with many players. This often has the word profile or contour in the name. There is a small ridge on the grip that you can use as a guide for your fingers.

Grip Notes

You will normally find the durability of a replacement grip is much better than an overgrip. This is the main reason they are used by so many players.

Most of the racket and string companies produce their own brand of grips. There are also a few specialist brands of grips such as Gripsy.

A replacement grip is usually supplied in an individual pack of one grip. Some of the lower cost grips are supplied in boxes containing larger quantities. These are normally used by stringers.
