Strings for Squash Players

When you break a string in your squash racquet, you can either have a restring or purchase a new racquet. This is often influenced by how much you paid for the racquet.

If you decide to have a restring, you will probably need some advice about selecting the string, and the tension to use.

A selection of strings is shown on this page, but many players will require further advice. If you should need any assistance please ask.

String Selection

Whichever string you select, must provide consistent performance over the lifetime of the string.

Not all strings meet this essential basic requirement

A low cost string that needs replacing after a short time does not represent good value.

Squash Strings

Basic

Many squash players want an economically priced string that offers a good balance between performance and durability. This string satisfies these requirements, and is the string selected by most squash players.

Intermediate

The new Tecnifibre XR1 string offers good performance and comfort. There are several gauges available, and the 1.25mm (17 gauge) is recommended.

Advanced

There should be one string selected later this year following testing. The expected date is mid February to early March.

Durable

Are you a player who breaks strings frequently? There is a solution that works for most players. Please ask about the Squash Hybrid string.
